Bacchus Vlaams Oud Bruin 375ml
Flemish red-brown is a regional beer style of the area around Kortrijk and Roeselare. The beers are brewed using mixed fermentation and the red-brown liquid is the result of the use of coloured barley malts.
Mixed fermentation means that the brewer is blending or 'cutting' a quantity of young beer with older, mature entirely fermented beer and this is followed by several months' maturation on oak barrels (foeders) resulting in a mildly sour taste and complex fruitiness.
Bacchus Oud Briun is the oldest beer in the Bacchus range and used as the base for the fruit beers, first brewed at Castle Brouerij Van Honsebrouck in 1955.
